Apple Picking

This past Saturday, we went to Shelburne Farm in Stow, MA for our annual apple picking trip.  It was a chilly (slightly damp) Fall day perfect for picking.  We went later in the afternoon so our first stop was at the stand for some apple cider donuts and hot/cold apple cider (hot for Joe and I, cold for the girls).

Before apple picking, we stopped at some of the fun things at the farm for the kids to do.  "Tractor" rides.  Emme chose to sit with Joe and watch Hannah ride the "tractor"
 Hannah!
Next was the hay maze and tower.  Hannah and Emme made it to the top (multiple times)

Walking through the pumpkin fields on the way to the orchard.  Hannah was so cute the entire day with Emme.  She definitely played the big sister role and took care of her little sister!

Finally, picking apples.  Because of the dew on the apples, Emme actually wanted nothing to do with picking apples and so the rest of us picked a peck of apples...macintosh, macoun, jonagold, and cortland combined.

Joe really wanted one way up in the tree and so Hannah went onto his shoulders to get it.
 Peek a boo!
Emme perfectly happy and content to hold our umbrella.

Such a great time.  And lots of apples to enjoy!  On Sunday, we made apple pie, apple crisp, caramel apples...Yummy!
