Storyland and Old Orchard Beach

For the second part of our stay-cation, we went to North Conway, New Hampshire for our annual trip to Storyland, an amusement park for young children. We stayed at our favorite hotel, well Hannah's favorite...maybe because there are 3 pools to choose from or because they have nightly ice cream socials...we aren't sure, but either way, the hotel is part of the fun!

The first day we went to Storyland it was closed due to Tropical Storm Irene (and not enough employees being able to get to the park). We went swimming instead! The next day was more swimming and then Storyland in the afternoon. And the most exciting part...Emme is tall enough (just barely) to ride all of the rides! It is our first year that all of us can ride all of the rides together! And while she at first was a little hesitant to ride the bigger rides such as the roller coaster, raft ride, and log ride, she was game and realized they were lots of fun! Even though the picture that caught us going down the hill at the log ride did not look like it...right when we got down, Emme always said "yeah". This picture was taken on probably the 6th time we had been on the ride over the 2 days.

The second day we started off our day at Storyland on the small swan boats that you control around a small pond and this was where our camera was laid to rest! I took a picture of Joe and Hannah in their boat and then went to hand Joe the camera to take a picture of Emme and I in ours. He went to grab for the boat, I thought he was grabbing for the camera...and our camera is history. But not to worry, a stop at the gift shop and we are now the proud owners of a small pink digital camera...

We had a fantastic day and left at closing time. The initial plan was to go to Camp in Maine, but because of Irene and still no electricity at Camp we opted for a lovely motel in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and spent all day Thursday at the beach! Which is where all of the pictures from our second day at Storyland were laid to rest when I went to take a terrific picture of Joe and the girls in the water and proceeded to drop the camera in the ocean. Not exactly my week for cameras! Good news is that the camera looks like it survived (just not the pictures) and the girls are now the proud owners of before mentioned small pink princess camera.

After a stop at Best Buy for a new camera and dinner, we headed to camp with our fingers crossed that there was now electricity and there was! Now onto our fun at camp and celebrating Hannah's birthday!!
