Emme - 9 month, Gramma and Gramps, Christmas...all in one

It's been a crazy few weeks here!! First of all, Emme turned 9 months old. Already? Unfortunately, the day was spent at the doctor's office and getting X-rays as she got her arm stuck behind her as Joe was turning her around on his lap. A seemingly simple thing, but she had no use of her arm and was in a lot of pain. It hung limp by her side which meant no crawling and no practicing of her newfound skill of cruising. All turned out to be fine, they think it was nursemaid's elbow and eventually the use of her arm came back (just needed some time to heal). She is eating much more solid foods these days and she will literally eat anything if you mix it with fruit. Probably not the best thing, but she eats so I can't complain. And she still loves her cheerios! She is still sleeping through the night and wakes anywhere between 530-7a. I quite like 7a but I take what I get. Sheeaaly likes to babble and sometimes I think she might know what she means when she says mama. Her latest stats are 27 1/2 inches and 17 lbs 13 oz. She continues to be such a happy baby although the separation anxiety has really started to kick in. She loves her mama!

So as Emme's arm was healing, both her and Hannah came down with a cold with fever. Just in time for Gramma and Gramps to arrive! Emme seemed to bounce back quickly at the time, but Hannah was not so lucky! Hannah had an awful cough, runny nose, and fever for the next week which left all of us homebound. Gramma and Gramps didn't mind so much as Hannah was nice and mellow and super cuddly. They watched movies (Polar Express about a zillion times), colored, cuddled on the couch, read books, ...

Emme and Gramma. Emme slowly got accustomed to Gramma and Gramps! Often they stayed right by me with her and she was happy with that!

Emme and Gramps!

Finally Christmas morining arrived! Hannah was mostly feeling better and was very excited! As she looked at all of the presents, she looked at me and said "Santa really did come". So sweet! And what did he bring? Purple shoes! Just like she wanted!

As usual, Hannah passed out the presents and then opened each present herself (in front of the person they were actually for). Here she is opening one of Joe's while wearing one of her favorite gifts...a Tom Brady jersey (just like Daddy's) from Gramma and Gramps.

After all of the presents were opened, we were able to get in a quick game of Pretty, Pretty Princess before we had to get ready to go to Aunt Connie's house. Although Gramps didn't win, he sure did look like a pretty, pretty princess (and a good sport!).

Emme's first Christmas!

Trying to get a photo. Emme just kept looking up at us!

I should mention that the girls looked adorable in their Christmas dresses but Hannah just was not feeling like taking pictures that day so here's Gramma and Gramps with Emme.

Well, Gramma didn't take no for an answer and much as she did when I was little, the picture was taken whether you liked it or not.

Despite this picture, we had a wonderful Christmas and time with Gramma and Gramps. As always, we were sad to see them leave and wished they lived closer! And now this week, Emme has come down with the cold/fever that Hannah had last week plus an ear infection....fun times!
